Melting Ice 2nd Kathmandu International Art Festival 2012
Melting Ice, created for the 2nd Kathmandu International Art Festival, offers a visual perspective on the dramatic loss of alpine and polar landscapes around the world. Referencing the beauty of ice, this installation was created with ice blocks stacked to make a 10 ft. high by10 ft. long wall. It was displayed in the historic Nag Bhal courtyard in Patan on November 25, 2012. In collaboration with Paul D. Miller (aka DJ Spooky), his video, Ice Synchronism, was projected on the ice block to highlight the effects of climate change in the Himalayas, the Arctic, and Antarctica. Melting Ice also points to the disappearing glaciers and increasing scarcity of water in South Asia.
