In Winter Lights, exhibited at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Kathmandu, Jyoti constructed ten pole lamps from bamboo, jute, hand-made baskets and Nepali paper. His sentinel forest of light guarded the entry to a mysterious, attic-like space in a former Rana palace. Strategically placing objects used in rituals – copper oil lamps, brass vessels, grains and flowers – within this space, Jyoti reveals the beauty of traditional culture and the magical effects of illumination.
