Digital Earth

In 2001, Jyoti conceived the series Earth Drawings to Digital Prints, which was first shown at the Allcott Gallery, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This work is based on the interconnections between two different approaches to making art. Earth drawings, referencing art’s earliest technology, are created using the most elemental tools and materials. They are then scanned into the computer and transformed into a textured and layered digital image. Despite the differences between the two forms, they convey a similar vision. Reflecting a bond with the natural world, they present the idea that nature and technology can sometimes harmoniously coexist.
